Hello, I'm Onyx, an expert kitchen designer who moved to Snowmass Village in the fall of 2021. I'm excited to offer full kitchen design services to my neighbors. If you don't live in the Upper Roaring Fork Valley, contact me about my virtual design options. With a degree in Architecture, over 20 years of experience in architectural and interior design (specializing in environmentally friendly kitchens and residential millwork for the past 13 years), I'm looking forward to adding my skills to this thriving community. I have successfully designed and installed over 200 kitchens and am passionate about creating beautiful and exceptionally functional spaces that exceed my clients' expectations. We offer packages for clients who are starting a full kitchen remodel or designing a brand new kitchen with cabinetry budgets over $14,000. You can also use the packages (above) for other rooms with cabinetry budgets over $14,000. For those with a smaller budget, I have a wonderful cabinetry/design company I've worked with for 13 years that I trust. Contact me for my recommendation.

My process begins with an in-home (or online) design meeting where we'll discuss your project requirements, needs, and how you and your household use your spaces. This is your chance to have someone on your team who can relieve the stress of making difficult decisions alone. During this meeting, we'll work together to start laying out the optimal layout and storage solutions for your spaces.

Once we have an initial cabinetry layout in place, I'll advise you on which showrooms or websites to visit, or we will visit showrooms with you. Our goal is to choose our partner cabinetry manufacturer that best suits your preferences and budget. We partner with companies that are in the price range of our clients, have what our clients are looking for, and most importantly, that we trust and know will give you the best outcome. This aspect is important to us to provide you with a good experience. Once you've chosen which of our partners to use, I'll then create detailed cabinetry drawings with labels indicating where everything should go and what accessories are used. We'll work together via email communication to perfect your design with up to four drafts to ensure that the final design is exactly what you want and meets all your needs. Additional drafts are available for an additional charge, but four drafts are usually enough for most clients.

 

Once you are happy with the design I will work with our partner manufacturer to put your order together. When the cabinets arrive I will be available to the cabinetry installer for any questions. We do not project manage templating, deliveries or product installation. We recommend you hire a licensed general contractor to manage your construction. We will visit the site after the cabinetry installation to confirm that everything fits the design specifications and is installed correctly.

Design fee includes:

• New Client Onboarding Package with everything you need to know about working with us

• Education package and tips on choosing materials and appliances

• Advice on where to shop for materials and appliances. 

• In-person initial design meeting

• Precision on-site measurements for cabinetry design

• In-person cabinetry and countertop selections (1 visit to each retailer)

• Advice and opinions on backsplash, flooring, handles, custom hood design. 

• Comprehensive spacial and cabinetry design by a Kitchen Designer/ Interior Architectural Designer with 13 years and 200 kitchens of experience.

• Detailed elevations and plans with storage solutions designated using your specific cabinetry company's options (see below)

• 3D renderings of your space with materials at every draft (see below)

• Connections to local contractors

• Connections to local interior designers for permit drawings

• Post cabinetry installation quality and design intent check

 

Not included:

• Permit drawings (lighting and electrical design)

• On site project management

If you choose not to work with me, I recommend selecting a kitchen designer with a minimum of 100 installed kitchens in their portfolio. You deserve a designer who has learned from experience and can deliver exceptional results on your project.
