TIP #2:

If your dishes build up in the sink or on the countertop, make your dishwasher (or drying rack) SUPER easy to unload.

I put this as a HIGH priority because a dishwasher or drying rack that hasn’t been emptied is a major cause of one of our biggest stressors, dirty dishes piling up!

One of the best ways to do this is to store your dishes right next to the dishwasher/ drying rack (or as close as possible). Ideally, you will be able to stand next to your clean dishes and only move one or two steps to put the majority of your dishes, glasses, and utensils away.

Another tip is to LOAD your dishwasher with purpose. It’s recommended to load all of the same things next to each other in the dishwasher. Find a pattern that works for you and load it that way every time (if possible). Examples: plates go on the back row, bowls in the front row, cooking utensils are at the front or middle of the top tray, tupperware, well, good luck with tupperware...

A few notes:

- If there are other things in the cabinets next to your dishwasher, besides dishes, glasses, cooking ware etc... I recommend changing their location. Here’s a diagram that can help you set up helpful zones in your kitchen: https://bit.ly/34hNJxO.

-If you store dishes/glasses in the cabinet above the dishwasher, I recommend considering moving them. This cabinet can be hard to reach with the dishwasher open which can make it dangerous and/or difficult to use as dish/glass storage. If it happens to be easy and safe for your whole household, then keep it.

Don’t worry, there are no perfect solutions. To lower stress, just take one step at a time to make your kitchen a little better than it is now. Every step helps lower stress!

If you've missed any of my tips, go to my blog www.onyxkitchendesign.com/blog to get up to date on the series. Please, as with any field, follow the advice of experts in the field, not bloggers trying to sell you things that you don't need. I will not make money from anything I recommend to you in this series. My inspiration is to be of service right now.
